@Justin - Never mind. I hope your presentation went fine. It's great to see OpenSimulator getting the deserved attention after nearly three years of heavy development. I think that we may expect to see great projects with it in 2010.

@Maria - We are launching a payed EC2 like service with a simplified frontend soon. It may best be describes as OpenSimulator-On-Demand or Click-A-Sim and will run on our own cloud computing network or alternatively on EC2 in the backend. Services like e.g. FreeSwitch, Moodle/SLoodle, preconfigured avatars and premade oars are preconfigured and optionally bookable. Upload of user-oars is also possible. A user friendly frontend to start/stop sims and make the necessary configurations is included and the service will be charged on a pay per use base that takes the allocated resources into account. Please drop me an email on info@talentraspel.de if you want to know more.

@Kai - Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to talk about much beyond Pixelpark's projects and general OpenSim information at the symposium but I'm sure that people will be interested in what you're doing.

@Anthony - Excellent. Thanks very much for all your work on FreeSWITCH :)

@Maria - I haven't heard of any service that makes it really easy to spin up OpenSim instances on demand (unless Kai can tell us differently :). Sounds like a promising idea though if something could be overlaid on a general cloud service such as EC2. Getting comms between separate simulators would be tricky, though solvable imo.

Justin --

Do you know if there are any services that run OpenSim instances for people? The Amazon EC2 cloud is a bit difficult for a non-technie to navigate. But a cloud-based OpenSim solution seems like a perfect fit for event planners, for example, who need to put up a lot of regions for short periods of time. You click and your region is up, you load in an OAR file, create your users, and you're in business.

Thanks,

Hi Justin.

If you find the time to visit our website http://www.opensimulator-club.de before Monday you could include some information about our projects in your talks at the Kopiwa Open Innovation Symposium.

Beside PixelPark and VirtYou we at TalentRaspel virtual worlds Ltd. are another german company working with OpenSimulator. We run some grids with interesting people and rich content, work on several interesting projects and just finished the conversion of our technology to a complete cloud computing based architecture (http://www.presseportal.de/pm/74238/1519949/talentraspel_virtual_worlds_ltd) that makes our hosting services very scalable.

If you have any question feel free to contact me by e-mail at info@talentraspel.de.

Regards,
Kai.
