Welcome to OpenSim Core, John Hurliman

Following a long session in a smoke-filled room, we (the OpenSim core developers, those with direct commit access to the code) decided to extend an invitation to John Hurliman (aka jhurliman) to join the core team.  John was instrumental in creating the libopenmetaverse library, one of the pillars on top of which OpenSim is built.  He has also submitted a lot of patches to OpenSim and is an all-round extremely knowledgable and nice guy.  In addition, he works for Intel (founders and maintainers of ScienceSim, as well as something to do with microchips), so he must be some good :)

I know he also has many other achievements which I apologize for omitting.

Anyway, John was kind enough to accept our invitation, so along with the other OpenSim core developers I’m very pleased to welcome him to the asylum :) .

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Justin Clark-Casey, an OpenSim core developer and professional software engineer.

On the Linden Lab grid I go by the name of Lulworth Beaumont. On other grids I'm just plain old Justin Clark-Casey.

I'm currently working as a freelance consultant specializing in OpenSimulator and related technologies. If you're interested in learning more then please read the Hire Me page.

I've also written a paper on distributed virtual environments, which examines how virtual worlds could become more like the web, rather than individual silos of users and content.

I often attend the OpenSim Office Hours on a Tuesday on Wright Plaza at OSgrid.org
